Founded by a Retired Army Officer

In 2010, Dhanesh Chandra Mishra — a retired officer of the Indian Army — started Shiv Ganga Travels with a single vehicle and one conviction: that pilgrims deserved to be treated with the same care and discipline that the Army demands of every mission.

He'd seen what happened when families entrusted their sacred journey to operators who prioritised profit over safety. Overloaded vehicles. Substandard hotels. Missing guides. Stranded pilgrims at 3,500 metres. He decided to do it differently.

Fifteen years later, Shiv Ganga Travels has carried over 50,000 pilgrims across every season. Every vehicle is maintained to Army safety standards. Every driver is trained for high-altitude emergencies. Every rupee is accounted for before you pay.

Military discipline
Punctuality, safety protocols, and accountability on every trip
Safety as a practice
Hill-trained drivers, oxygen on board, and a vehicle check before every departure
Full cost transparency
Every package includes a line-by-line cost breakdown before you book

"Every pilgrim who boards one of our vehicles carries faith, family, and often a lifelong dream. I treat that responsibility the same way I treated my duty in the Army — with total commitment and zero compromise."

Everything You Need to Know

Before booking your yatra — answered clearly.

Travel in May or September–October. May (8–22°C) gives you blooming rhododendrons, clear skies and smooth trekking conditions. September–October delivers post-monsoon crystal visibility, fewer crowds, and vivid autumn colours on the Kedarnath descent. Avoid July–August — the monsoon causes landslides on both the Kedarnath and Gangotri routes. The 2026 season opens April 19 (Yamunotri and Gangotri), April 22 (Kedarnath), and April 23 (Badrinath).
